Below please find the list of PTO committees and chairpersons. If you are interested in obtaining more information or volunteering for a committee, please email elcoispto@gmail.com.
Assembly
Chairperson: Jodi Horst
The PTO sponsors assemblies during the school year. The chairperson works with the teachers and principal to select assemblies and acts as the point of contact for arranging and booking the assembly.
Scholastic Book Fairs
Chairperson: Rachel Smith
The Scholastic Book Fairs are held three or four times a year, usually in August (Back to School Night), November (Parent Conferences), March, and May. The chairperson acts as the point of contact with Scholastic to confirm dates and organize the book fair.
Volunteers assist with book fair setup and takedown. Help is also needed to assist students on shopping days with book selections and running the registers.
Box Tops For Education
Chairperson: Vicki Simpson
Families are asked to look for and collect Box Tops for Education from products all year long. The chairperson is responsible for organizing the collection dates, and making the submissions to Box Tops, usually two or three times a year.
Additional volunteers are needed to help organize, collect, and count the box tops.
End of the Year Carnival
Co-Chairpersons: Becky Kissinger
This all-day event takes place at the end of the school year and is a day of fun and celebration for all students. The chairperson is responsible for working with outside vendors to coordinate rentals of games and inflatables, purchase snacks, and organize volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to run activities such as bounce houses, nail painting, games, face painting, snacks, etc.
Family Photo Night Fundraiser
Chairperson: Stacey Mays
Local photographer Jason Ziegler will be offering family photo sessions including an 8x10 photo for ELCO families for a donation of $10 to the IS PTO. The chairperson is responsible for coordinating an online registration for families to register for time slots.
Father/Daughter Night
Co-Chairpersons: Samantha Nye
This fun event is for the female students of the IS and their fathers, grandfathers, uncles or significant family member. The fun-filled night includes games, activities, crafts, snacks, and raffles for the participants. The chairperson is responsible for coordinating the date of the event, setting up the games, securing raffle prizes, and organizing volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help run the various stations the night of the event.
Friends Helping Friends
Chairperson: Samantha Nye
In conjunction with Fort Zeller Elementary School, Jackson Elementary School, Myerstown Rotary, and local businesses and organizations, funds are raised to provide holiday assistance to ELCO families in need. Volunteers are needed to assist in shopping for items and securing donations.
Hospitality & Teacher Appreciation Committee
Co-Chairpersons: Kate Weaver and Mandy Zwally
During parent/teacher conferences and teacher and staff appreciation week, meals are provided to teachers and staff of the Intermediate School. The chairperson coordinates the dates of the meals and organizes the volunteers using an online signup form. The chairperson also works with a committee to make decisions about celebrating Teacher Appreciation week.
Volunteers are needed to prepare food items, secure donations, and arrange setup and cleanup for meals. Additional tasks may develop for Teacher Appreciation week.
Mother/Son Night
Chairperson: Bambi Tanger
This fun event is for the male students of the IS and their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or significant family member. The fun-filled night includes games, activities, crafts, snacks and raffles for the participants.The chairperson is responsible for coordinating the date of the event, setting up the games, securing raffle prizes, and organizing volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to help run the various stations the night of the event.
Raider Run Fundraiser
Organizational Co-Chairpersons: Kelly Newswanger and Evie Trostle
Event Day Chairperson: Lora Halpin
The largest fundraiser of the year, students obtain sponsors and donations for their participation in the run. Prizes are awarded to students based on the levels of funds raised and the number of sponsors and donations received.
The organizational chairperson is responsible for the distribution of letters, forms, and prizes to students, as well as tallying fundraising totals. The event day chairperson manages all logistics related to the actual operation of the Raider Run day. Volunteers are also needed to assist in both the organization and the actual event day.
Gingerbread Shoppe
Chairperson: Allison Ebersole and Kelly Blakeslee
During Gingerbread Shoppe, students can independently select and purchase holiday gifts for their family and loved ones. The chairperson is responsible for organizing the shopping days, purchasing gifts for the upcoming year, and other duties related to the success of the event.
Parent Elves (volunteers) are needed to organize and wrap items and assist students on the shopping days.
Yearbook Club

Families are asked to take and submit photographs during the school year of activities and events. Students in the Yearbook Club work with the advisor to organize the yearbook.
