Hello everyone!  My name is Melynda Cochran, and I am in my second year as a school counselor, and my first year as a school counselor here at Jackson Elementary.  Prior to becoming a school counselor, I was a paraprofessional here at Jackson Elementary, so I am thrilled to be back at Jackson Elementary!  I graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a Masters of Education in Professional School Counseling in 2022.  Last year I was a crisis counselor at an elementary school in Schulkyll County working with students in Pre-K through 4th grade.

Outside of school, I am married and my husband and I have two kids who both attend ELCO Middle School.  We are very active after school with horse lessons, boy scouts and volunteer opportunities in the county.  When we can, my family loves going to the beach or Disney and spending time with our family and friends.  

In school, students will see me in their classrooms once a month when I will conduct Character Trait lessons or for career lessons.  Our Character Trait lessons come from our monthly Positive Behavior Character Trait (for PBIS).  We use a program called Smart Futures for our Career Lessons.  

Students can also see me for individual counseling or group counseling lessons.  If you would like your child to see me for a check-in or to join a group, please reach out to me and I would be happy to meet with your child.
