Ms. Madelyn Saunders
Hi! My name is Madelyn Saunders and I am the school counselor at both Fort Zeller and Jackson Elementary Schools. The 2018/2019 school year is my fourth year working at both schools. While I now live in Lancaster County and work in Lebanon County, I originate from Caroline County, Virginia where my family has deep roots. After graduating from Caroline County High School, I attended the University of Virginia and completed my Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. At UVa, I had begun to understand that I wanted to have a career in a helping profession where I worked closely with other people.
Soon after graduating, I moved to Pennsylvania and my passion for helping students reach its fullest potential emerged. I worked as a TSS (therapeutic support staff) for four years with TEAMCare Behavioral Health LLC. In this position, I worked with students, who had diagnoses such as Autism and ADHD, meet their behavioral goals in school, in the community, and at home. While working as a TSS, I attended and graduated from Millersville University with a Masters of Education in School Counseling. I am certified as a school counselor from kindergarten to the 12th grade, and enjoy seeing every student succeed academically and behaviorally to ultimately prepare them to be happy, healthy, and successful adults.
Besides my passion in school counseling, I am an avid runner and enjoy completing races that range from 5Ks to half marathons. Most recently, I have run a half marathon and shorter races like 4 miles and 5Ks. I am a huge animal lover and live in Lancaster City with three large energetic dogs. As a family, we love to take walks around the city while the dogs search for squirrels! Finally, I am very thankful to have my summers off to travel around Pennsylvania, the United States, and the world.
