Immunization Requirements
The PA Department of Health regulations are intended to ensure that children attending school in PA are adequately protected against outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases.
On the first day of school, unless the child has a medical or religious/philosophical exemption, a child must have had at least one dose of the required vaccinations or risk exclusion from school. Previously, parents had up to eight months to complete the necessary immunizations. This provision no longer exists and immunizations must be completed by the start of school or the child will be excluded from school.
Parents of students entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, or 12th grade should pay close attention to the requirements, as these are the grades in which additional vaccinations are necessary. If you have questions about the regulations or what your child is in need of, please contact the nurse at your child’s school.
Please see the information to the right from the PA Department of Health which outlines the requirements for each grade.
