Meet Dr. Gerhart
Dr. Michael Gerhart is excited to serve the Eastern Lebanon County School District as its new Assistant Superintendent and is honored to continue serving the students, staff, families, and community. Having dedicated the past seventeen years to ELCO, he is grateful for the opportunity to build upon the district's tradition of excellence while helping shape its future.
With more than 25 years of experience in public education, Dr. Gerhart has served in a variety of leadership roles, including teacher, assistant principal, principal, professional development facilitator, and educational leader. Most recently, he served as Principal of ELCO Intermediate School, where he worked closely with students, families, teachers, and staff to foster a positive school culture and create meaningful opportunities for student success.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gerhart has been guided by the belief that strong schools are built through collaboration, trust, and a shared commitment to excellence. He is passionate about supporting high-quality instruction, developing future leaders, strengthening partnerships with families, and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential.
Dr. Gerhart earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Shippensburg and Millersville Universities and holds a Pennsylvania Superintendent certification. He also holds master’s degrees from Wilkes University in Educational Leadership (with a principal’s certificate) and in Instructional Technology, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Education from Shippensburg University. Combined with more than 25 years of experience in public education, his academic preparation and professional experiences have equipped him to provide thoughtful, collaborative leadership in support of teaching, learning, and continuous improvement throughout the ELCO School District.
As Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Gerhart looks forward to working alongside the district leadership team, faculty, staff, families, and community members to build upon ELCO's many strengths. He is committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, supporting innovative teaching and learning, and ensuring that every student is known, valued, challenged, and prepared for future success.
Outside of school, Dr. Gerhart enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters on their farmette. He is deeply appreciative of the opportunity to continue serving the ELCO community and looks forward to the exciting work ahead.
