The ELCO Raider Food Pantry is now open and available for the ELCO families. With the support of our ELCO staff, local businesses and churches, we are able to provide our ELCO families an additional resource.
If you are in need immediate assistance or you'd like to donate to the ELCO Raider Pantry, please reach out to Kelly Smith, ELCO Social Worker at 717-306-3242 or Jenelle Himmelreich, Director of Food and Nutrition at 717-306-3270 for a confidential appointment to the pantry.
UPDATE*Effective Immediately all students will receive FREE meals through for the 2021-2022 school year! That includes breakfast and lunch meals.
Ala Carte items will continue to be offered and students will be charged for those items.
As school foodservice programs are making preparations to return to normal service and menus, we are facing unprecedented issues with the supply chain that will undoubtedly cause us to alter our posted menus with little to no notice.
We are working very closely with our distributors and manufacturers to secure both food and supply items needed to support our program, however the availability of these items has been changing on a daily basis.
While it is our intention to serve the posted menuevery day at school, supply issues will not make this possible throughout the school year until the supply chain issues are rectified.
When changes to the posted school menu are necessary, we will attempt to substitute the scheduled menu item with another that is similar as possible, to the extent we are able to do so, based on the products we are able to receive.
I hope that this message finds you and your family well. During this unprecedented time, many families’ income situation has significantly changed. If you have been impacted by a change in income or feel that you now qualify for free and reduced meals, please submit an application.
There are three ways to complete a 2021-2022 Free and Reduced Application;
- Apply online at schoolcafe.com (Preferred and most efficient method)
- Paper Application Free and Reduced Application (Printable) Available
- Apply on Compass https://www.compass.state.ps.us
For SchoolCafe.com, you will need to create a user ID and Password and then add your child(rens) information. You will need their 7 digit ID number for the online application. You may email Jenelle Himmelreich, Director of Food and Nutrition at firstname.lastname@example.org for their ID numbers at 717-306-3270.
As part of the National School Lunch Program, due to having no nutritional value, bottled water will not be part of your student's meal choice. Bottled water will be offered as an ala carte option in all school buildings.
Potable water will be available, at all times, in each of the school cafeterias. We encourage you to supply your child with a water bottle that can be refilled at the water stations.
As part of the NLSP, for those students who do not want milk, we will offer Soy milk, 100% fruit juice and a vegetable based juice as a lunch option.
Cafeteria Cash and Check Deposits - We are asking our families to have all cash and check deposits in an envelope with the students name printed, cash amount and the student's ID Number. We are trying to eliminate the handling of cash at the registers. All cash deposits will be all placed in the student's account and no change will be given. Please send only what you want deposited at that time. We will have extra envelopes available at the registers for the students to fill out if an envelope is forgotten.
Thank you for understanding during this time.
SchoolCafe is now available for parents/guardians to monitor school lunch accounts. Parents/Guardians, follow the SchoolCafe instruction manual located below to sign up for an account and link it to your son or daughter. You will need your child’s student school ID which can be found on the Student Information sheet sent home this summer or being distributed to your child the first day of school.
Should you need help locating your child’s school ID, please contact his/her school building. Should you have a specific question about SchoolCafe, please contact his/her school building and ask for the cafeteria or send an email to Director of Food and Nutrition Services, Jenelle Himmelreich email@example.com
SchoolCafe is available for making online deposits and to make the selections for the purchase that are allowed for your child's meal account. You will also be able to use your credit card to make your deposits. There is a 5% convenience fee per deposit. If you have more than one child in the District, the fee goes by the total amount of the deposit, not by the individuals student deposits. As long as the transaction is at one time.
If you wish to transfer money from one child's account to another, please contact Jenelle Himmelreich, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, at 717-866-4521 ext. 10860
There is no fee create and maintain your child's acounts. You may view the purchasing history as well as be notified for low balances through email.
This technology allows us to provide debit accounts for purchases, and increases the speed of food service to students so they have more time to eat and converse. Parents enjoy the convenience of prepaying for thier child's purchases at whatever level they choose. The point of sale system also eliminates the overt indetification ofstudents who are elogble for free or reduced benefits.
The system allows you to pay in advance for meals and/or A la Carte items. Students still have the option to pay cash on a daily basis. We urge ou to take full advantage of this system by placing money into your child's account on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. You choose the amount you want to deposit. Any money not spent by the end of school will be available for your child's use the following school year. You may use the feature to receive a low balance notification. For proper notification of low balances, it is recommended to use $8.00 as the minimum balance so that you are notified in a timely matter.
