  • May students in grades 6-12 with IEPs attend school each day if we choose In-Person/Hybrid Learning?

    Posted by:

Yes! In fact the District is strongly recommending that students with an IEP in grades 6-12 attend school every day if parents choose the In-Person/Hybrid learning option.  Parents of a student with an IEP will receive a separate communication to indicate their preference.

  • Are students with IEPs able to choose from the three learning options?

    Posted by:

After carefully reviewing the available options, as well as your child’s strengths and needs, parents are able to choose between any of the options.  If you are considering the online synchronous or ELCO Virtual Academy options for your child with an IEP, please contact Jeremy Sweigart at jsweigart@elcosd.org, so that your child’s IEP team can review the IEP document to determine whether additional supports are needed.

  • What if my child will not or cannot wear a face covering?

    Posted by:

There are many kinds of face coverings available and we suggest that you try several until you find the one that works best for your child.  Practice wearing the face covering for short periods of time, slowly increasing the time worn.  Remember that there will be times during the day that your child has a break from wearing the face covering!  If your child has a disability, medical concern, or a health condition that prevents the use of a face covering, please click HERE, provide the requested information, and someone will reach out to you to discuss further.

  • If I choose online synchronous learning or ELCO VA how will my child’s related services be provided?

    Posted by:

Parents have two options to consider in regards to related services (speech and language, OT, PT, etc).  If you would like your child to participate in these services in-person, you may transport your child to his or her school building at a designated time to receive their speech, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy session with the respective therapist.  The district will also provide “tele-therapy” options for speech therapy, occupational therapy, and/or physical therapy for students that elect to attend via the online synchronous learning option or ELCO Virtual Academy.
