Honor Roll
Two honor rolls are maintained for the recognition of academic excellence. The "Superior Honor Roll" is achieved by earning a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75. The "Distinguished Honor Roll" indicates that a student earned a GPA of 3.2. Honor rolls will be figured each grading period. Honor rolls are figured on a straight four point scale (A-4, B-3, C-2, D-1, F-0).First Quarter | Second Quarter | Third Quarter
National Junior Honor Society
The purpose of the NJHS, which was chartered in 1929 is to "create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship." The ELMS Chapter of the NJHS was formed in 1994.
Students are eligible for membership in the ELMS Chapter of NJHS after completing the second quarter of their seventh grade year. Eligibility for membership is based on the following criteria:
- Maintaining 3.5, or higher, cumulative grade point average.
- Honor roll student four (4) quarters in a row.
- Consistent school attendance.
- No suspensions.
- One (1 ) elective or extracurricular activity.
- A majority vote of the seven (7) member faculty committee. In addition to the criteria listed above, we discussed balancing responsibilities and privileges for NJHS members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Maintain academic criteria listed above.
2. School service such as peer tutoring.
3. Community service such as volunteering at the E.C.C. Home, or Book. Share through the Patriot News N.I.E. program.
4. Individual service projects.
