The Community
The Eastern Lebanon County School District is located in the southeastern part of Lebanon County and serves the residents of a largely rural geographic locale. The District includes two boroughs and three townships with a population of 15,500 residents. A few large industries, many small businesses and numerous family farming operations characterize local economy.
School
Eastern Lebanon County is a comprehensive, four year high school with a total
enrollment of 820 students. Four elementary schools and a 6-8 grade middle
school also serve the community. The total student enrollment is 2,499. Approximately
45% of ELCO graduates pursue a four-year college study and 25% pursue other
formal education beyond high school. The teacher/student ratio is 20:1. Class
periods are scheduled for 80 minutes in a 4-day cycle. Students take 4 classes
each semester and educational progress is assessed in 9-week grading.

Special Curriculum Features
The honors courses identified in our transcript represent our school's enriched and accelerated courses. They have been specifically designed to be appropriate for and to challenge those students in our school's gifted program; however, the courses are also open to other high-achieving students. Advanced Placement courses are offered in English, social studies, calculus, biology and environmental science. To those who qualify, college-level study is available through Harrisburg Area Community College and Lebanon Valley College.
