Tools and Their Functions
Miscellaneous Tools

Below are some simple explanations of the tools left uncovered thus far in the tutorial.

CROP TOOL - Pictured on the left, above. The crop tool is used to select one particular part of an image and remove the rest. This tool is useful for quickly and easily removing unappealing parts of a photograph or image.

SLICE TOOL - Pictured on the right, above. The slice tool divides an image into parts, depending on where you drag the slice box after selecting the tool. This tool is useful for managing a large image by dividing it into selections. Slices do not appear when you save the image.

PAINT BUCKET - The paint bucket tool fills one colored part of an image with another color of your choice. You can adjust the tolerance level to define the range of colors it will replace with your fill color.

GRADIENT TOOL - The gradient tool creates a gradient. Clicking and dragging across the image will define the start and end points of the gradient. You can also click on the colors on the left edge of the options bar to define your own custom pattern of colors to use.

NOTES TOOL - The notes tool allows you to type notes and attach them to different parts of the image for easy access. If you need to remember something, create a note! Hidden beneath the Notes Tool is the Audio Annotation tool. This is similar to the notes tool, except you speak your note into your microphone instead of typing it out.

EYEDROPPER TOOL - The eyedropper tool picks up the color of the pixel you click with it and makes it your primary color for painting, etc. Beneath it is the color sampler tool, which picks up the color of the pixel you click and gives you the RGB color values for it. The measurement tool gives you the width and height (in inches) of the line you draw across your image with it.

HAND TOOL - The hand tool simply allows you to drag across your image to adjust the viewing area if you're zoomed in very far (similar to the Navigator panel.)

ZOOM TOOL - The zoom tool allows you to adjust the current zoom level of your view.
