WELCOME TO THE ELCO CAFETERIA
Allow me to give a brief explanation of the cafeteria's method of payment. It is a computerized debit system. Lunch money (minimum of 1 week's lunches recommended) is deposited into your student's account; regardless of whether your son or daughter receives free or reduced lunches (must use the computer system to receive free or reduced lunches) or is a full paying student. Each student in the District is assigned a pin number. The number will not change while enrolled in the ELCO District. The student enters their pin # on to a pin pad, presses enter, the computer will then tabulate the amount (note: if the student forgets the pin #, the cashier can search and find the students name). Before the account is debited, a digital picture and the name of your child will appear on the touch screen monitor. The cashier will validate students picture and name. This is to prevent fraudeulent use of a student's account.
At the end of the year all money in student's account will be transferred to the next grade level.
Elementary students
Cash or a check should be sent to the cafe in a sealed envelope with students first and last name (pin # would be helpful). Cafe money is collected in the classroom at Ft. Zeller and Schaefferstown. At Myerstown and Jackson students can drop off their envelope at the cafeteria first thing in the morning.
Middle School students
Cash or check can be put into account during breakfast or during lunch.
High School students
Cash or check can be put into account during lunch.
Please be aware that if the student is free or reduced (approved application must be on file) the system will know this and price their meals accordingly. You can still deposit money into the student's account so they can purchase additional items beyond their basic meal. Processing a new free/reduced application can take a few days, please be prepared to pay for your student's lunches until the application is approved.
Students will be told from the cashier when their account is getting low. The cafeteria will only send notices home when the child has a negative balance.
*Elementary level - after 3 meals are charged, the student will receive a bag lunch until lunch payment is made.
*Middle and High School - no charging a la carte items. Limited charging is allowed for students who have daily accounts.
All students have an established account. One added feature that you may wish to take advantage of is the Individual Participation Report. This report is available to the parent to view exactly what the student is purchasing and also has the ability to verify the use of deposited funds so that you can be assured of where your money is going. Parents can request the participation report by sending a note or calling the cafe manager where your child attends school.
