Dr. Franklin D. Zimmerman

Dr. Franklin D. Zimmerman, Jr. is a 1934 graduate of Schaefferstown High School.
Dr. Zimmerman earned his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College in
Easton, PA, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia.

He was in the United States Army Medical Corps with tours in Burma, China and
India in 1943 through 1945 during World War II.

Dr. Zimmerman started his Family Medical Practice in 1945 and spent his entire 43
years professional career in Schaefferstown. Even though it was not fashionable, Dr.
Zimmerman made house-calls until his retirement in 1988.

Dr. Zimmerman was married to the late Kathryn Overly. He has five children, eleven
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania and Lebanon County Medical Societies and St.
Luke Lutheran Church in Schaefferstown.

In retirement, Dr. Zimmerman enjoys golfing, fishing and listening to classical music.
