Randall J. Marks

Randall J. Marks graduated from ELCO High School in 1970. During his high
school years, he participated in the instrumental and vocal music program and was
selected to Distinct Band, Chorus and Orchestra, Regional Band, Chorus and
Orchestra and State Band. He also held lead roles in the musical productions of
Oklahoma, Carousel and Sound of Music. He was a 4 year member of the Varsity
Tennis Team. In 1974 he graduated from West Chester State College where he was
a quadrant leader in the marching band, performed in the Chorus, Symphonic band,
Wind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble. He was also a member in the music honor
fraternity Phi Mu Alpha. In 1975, Randy returned to ELCO as band and choral director.
He started the competitive marching band and in 1978, the band won the State
Championship of Independence Conference. Under his tutelage the band won many
awards, the most coveted of which may have been first place in the National
Championship of Bands in Orlando in 1983. Randy also founded the present ELCO
Show Choir, the Odd 18. He was also elected to the Lebanon County Educational
Honor Society. In 1985, Mr. Marks earned his Master's Degree in Music education
from West Chester University. In the fall of 1988, he began to teach in the Cornwall-
Lebanon District and is now director of the vocal music program. Currently this
program has over 750 vocalist in grades 6 thru 12. Under his direction the CCHS
Concert and Show have won many awards. Randy has also helped direct numerous
musicals. He was a guest conductor at the Dauphin County Choral Festival as well
as the Myerstown Community Choir. He has served on the Board of Directors for
District 7 Pennsylvania Music Educators and Lebanon Valley Youth for Christ. For
the past 27 years Randy and his wife Dawn have carried on a musical ministry for
churches conferences, retreats and civic groups that has taken them throughout the
East Coast and the Mid-West. Dawn and Randy are residents of Myerstown and
Randy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Marks of Myerstown.
