Mr. Krall is a 1950 graduate of Heidelberg Township High School, Scheafferstown,
PA. He played soccer, basketball and baseball, receiving All County honors three
times and the Al Clauser Memorial Award for outstanding athlete.
At East Stroudsburg University, Mr. Krall once again played soccer, basketball, and
baseball, receiving first team All Star selection of the Middle Atlantic States in soccer
in 1953. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education in
1953.
Mr. Krall played professional baseball 1954-58, signing on with the St. Louis
Cardinals in 1954. He played short stop, hitting .290 in 580 games. He received the
Pioneer League All-Star Shortstop Honors in 1957. He started his coaching career
in 1959 at ELCO, and remained until his retirement in 1996. While at ELCO, he
taught Health and Physical Education and coached basketball and baseball. In
baseball, his varsity teams accumulated an astounding 403 victories and a dozen
championships from 1960 through 1996.
In addition, Mr. Krall officiated soccer matches, coached Legion and Lebanon Valley
League baseball, coached at Stanford University - 1984, and worked as a scout for
the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets. Other outstanding activities of Mr. Krall
include his association with the ELCO Fellowship of Christian Athletes and being the
first six-decade player in the Lebanon Valley Baseball League.
Special Honors include:Inductee-Central Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame - 1981,
Teacher of the Year, ELCO - 1989, Recipient of 25 - year coaching award from
American Baseball Coaching Association - 1985, Recipient of 35 - year coaching
award from American Baseball Coaching Association - 1994, and Recipient of
25 - year coaching award from National Baseball Coaches Association for
coaching 400 wins.
Mr. Krall is married to Loretta Ann Levengood for 42 years and has three children,
Lori, Lisa, and Lon.
