
Dr. Robert L. Bashore is a member of the Myerstown High School class of 1953. After
serving four years in the U.S. Army and graduating from Defiance College, Robert
worked as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America for eight years. For the next
31-years he worked at Central Virginia Community College, starting as a counselor and
retiring as Dean of Student Services in 2001. During Roberts's Tenure at CVCC, he earned
his doctorate in Community College Administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1979.
In addition to Dr. Bashore's professional career, he has been active in many community affairs,
as well. Robert served on the Campbell County School Board for 16 years, eight years as a
member of the Bedford County Board of Supervisors, and continues to be a member of the
Executive Board for the Boy Scouts of America. Robert is a member of St. Andrew's
Presbyterian Church and resides in Virginia with his wife Joy. They have two sons, Scott
and Rob.
