Mr. Carl R. Leininger Sr. was a member of the Myerstown High School Class of 1943. Carl
inherited the nickname "Pinky" which was the nickname given to his father who sold produce
door to door. Pinky enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the 1st Calvary Division where he
graduated from the Army Radio School. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
In 1952, Pinky's interest in communications prompted him to start his own radio and television
business in his home on South College Street in Myerstown. Over time, the business grew
and eventually included TV's, appliances, furniture, and floor coverings. Pinky participated in
many local civic organizations, and founded the Myerstown VFW Post #6076 in 1958. Pinky
retired in 1990, and was actively involved at the Zion United Methodist Church of Myerstown.
He and his wife, Doris, are survived by three children: Dawn, Portia, and Carl Jr.
